Pittston Area dominates swim meet with Nanticoke

Scialpi, Fernando win four each as Lady Patriots sweep

Samantha Scialpi and Michelle Fernando each contributed four victories as Pittston Area won every race in a 134-39 win over Nanticoke in WVC Division III swimming on Wednesday afternoon in Yatesville.

Scialpi won the 200 IM in her first try this year and followed with her fifth win in as many meets in the 100 Back for her two individual wins. She then teamed with Jordan Grattuadauria, Katie McGinty, Sarah Kosik to win the 200 Medley Relay, and then with Emily Zurek, Kaylene Sutkowski and Fernando to win the 200 Free Relay.

Fernando won the 100 Fly for the first time this season, and the 500 Free for the third time this year before adding a win in the 400 Free Relay with Tiffany Smith, Kosik and Sutkowski.

Kosik added a third win in the 100 Free, and Sutkowski took the 50 Free for the first time this season.

Zurek added a win in the 100 Breast in a PA season-best time of 1:29.88.

Nina Fischer won the 200 Free for a second time this season, and Alyssa Scatena won the Diving part of the competition for the Lady Patriots with a season-best score of 173.85. It was Scatena’s fourth diving victory of the season.
